The Corning Museum of Glass in Corning, New York is an
international center for glass. Artists from around the world
travel to Corning to study, develop and display their skills.
In keeping with their reputation, museum offers a most
imaginative and creative look at glass. |
 |
|

|
The museum is open to the public, providing an in depth
look at both the utilitarian and decorative uses of glass, plus glass
manufacturing, and glass history. As a part of the museum tour,
guests are treated to a "Hot Glass Show" where they get a
first-hand look at hand-blown glass. |
|
During the summer months, this demonstration is
conducted on a one of a kind mobile stage that has been specially
outfitted to allow audiences to view each step from molten glass to
finished piece.
The stage has been skillfully integrated into the
museum in such a way that it appears to be a fixed part of the facility. |
 |
 |
By building this facility as a trailer it
also allows the museum to take the show on the road exposing even more
people to Corning glass and the fascinating process of hand blowing.
Beautiful super-graphics cover the entire exterior of the trailer,
offering a glimpse of the allure of glass as it travels about the
country. |
|
To produce the stage, a Century Sound Shell Stage was
modified with a reinforced aluminum plate stage deck, fire proofing
insulation, glass rail, extensive ventilation, gas, and electrical
systems, and an air-ride suspension system to protect the equipment.
The finished facility is a tribute to the innovative
and dedicated people at Corning Glass. |
